چکیده

The cosmological moduli problem (CMP) comes in three parts: 1. potential violation of BBN constraints from late decaying fields, 2. the moduli-induced gravitino wherein gravitinos are overproduced and 3. lightest SUSY particle (LSP) overproduction problem. We examine its connection to electroweak naturalness. calculate various two-body decay widths a light modulus field into MSSM particles within general supersymmetric models. include both phase space mixing effects. cases without with helicity suppression decays (cases 1 & 2) and/or gauginos A B). For case B1, we evaluate regions mass m_{3/2} vs. m_\phi parameter constrained by BBN, neutralino dark matter, along connections this case, essentially all is excluded unless >~ 2.5\times 10^3 TeV m_\phi<2m_{3/2}. potentially most propitious B2 \phi Higgs matter turned off, then branching fractions become highly suppressed at large m_\phi. But since number density increases faster than decrease, there still gross matter. also show that scenario thermally produced fixed huge entropy dilution, but non-thermal production remains it kinematically < 2m_{3/2}. In pedagogical appendix, present detailed calculations widths.

Relaxing the cosmological moduli problem.

Typically the moduli fields acquire mass mφ = ±C H in the early universe, which shifts the position of the minimum of their effective potential and leads to an excessively large energy density of the oscillating moduli fields at the later stages of the evolution of the universe. This constitutes the cosmological moduli problem, or Polonyi field problem. We show that the cosmological moduli prob...

The cosmological moduli problem and preheating

Many models of supersymmetry breaking, in the context of either supergravity or superstring theories, predict the presence of particles with Planck-suppressed couplings and masses around the weak scale. These particles are generically called moduli. The excessive production of moduli in the early Universe jeopardizes the successful predictions of nucleosynthesis. In this paper we show that the ...

Inflation versus the Cosmological Moduli Problem

We show that in generic supergravity theories the mass of the moduli during inflation is larger (or at least of the same order of magnitude) than the Hubble constant. This fact does not depends on the details of the inflation and on the value of the Hubble parameter during it. The reason is that inflationary universe is dominated by large F -term (or D-term) density which is higher than the SUS...

Cosmological Moduli Problem and Thermal Inflation Models

In superstring theories, there exist various dilaton and modulus fields which masses are expected to be of the order of the gravitino mass m3/2. These fields lead to serious cosmological difficulties, so called “cosmological moduli problem”, because a large number of moduli particles are produced as the coherent oscillations after the primordial inflation. We make a comprehensive study whether ...

On Technical Naturalness and the Cosmological Constant

We propose a model of dynamical relaxation of the cosmological constant. Technical naturalness of the model and the present value of the vacuum energy density imply an upper bound on the supersymmetry breaking scale and the reheating temperature at the TeV scale.
